The Outdoor Research Ninjaclava has a name that doesn't promise the professional results it delivers. This is a great mask to wear when you have to put your face in the wind. Unless the calender is rolling backwards for you, this balaclava will help your skin stay healthy when you have to be outside in a cold wind; I'm not getting any younger and my skin isn't getting any better. The mask is arranged so that the lower face is pulled comfortably up onto your nose and the upper is pulled comfortably down onto your brow. Even though the result is a mask that regrettably looks like you stepped out of an anime cartoon, br /br /This is not an expedition weight mask. If you are going out into serious blizzard conditions, OR makes other, more seriously protective masks. This mask will help you stay outside comfortably, longer...but it won't do much on a mountaintop in a howling blizzard. br /br /Although the facial protection is great, one of the places I notice it keeps comfortable that other protection methods don't is just under the ears and along the hairline. Since this is one place that getting cold causes headaches, it will keep you active longer. If you must show your face while wearing this mask, you can put the face shield under your chin and still keep the headache farm covered. br /br /The mask is quite comfortable. You should regularly adjust it if you are stationary because it will develop pressure points when your heart rate is relaxed; particularly along the ridge of your nose and brow. br /br /You should regularly clean this mask after wearing it for any length of time. You breathe through the fabric of the mask and it can get nasty over a week or more. If you are entering and leaving warm spaces, you should plan on putting the mask on and taking it off at the threshold to avoid overheating. When you take it off, try to leave the mask where it can air out. Stuffing it in your pocket wet, sweaty, and breathed through heavily will lead to a funky mask.
